A Note from the Founder
The idea for Simply Aviation took place over several years
At the beginning of the Pandemic, I found myself on the brink of furlough. With my family in mind, I made the decision to embrace the circumstances out of my control and bet on myself. I leased office space at RMMA and decided “I’m here for the long haul.” I was so fortunate during that time to meet aircraft owners, industry stakeholders, and peers who were willing to work with me. In that time, I was doing a lot of contract pilot services and eventually managing a few aircraft for aircraft owners.
As the world emerged from the Pandemic, I was faced with another question: “What do I do with this business?” I had achieved success and had so many opportunities that I recognized it would be foolish to just let this business go and shut it down. I had something that was working, and I thought “Why not train pilots from the very beginning of their journey? Why not get something I can teach my sons in? Maybe others would like it too!” This led to the purchase of my first aircraft: a factory-new Cessna 172. I took delivery of “Susie Q” in December of 2022. As I crossed the plains of Western Kansas on a cold December evening, I remember thinking “Ok, now what?” It was a surreal feeling, but the best way I can describe it is that scene in “Finding Nemo” when the fish escaped the Dentist’s office.
By late 2023, a small group of experienced aviation professionals came together to identify a gap in the local flight training market, leading to the creation of a dedicated CFI training program in early 2024.
We are SIMPLY AVIATION
The business needed an identity and a brand.
I remember over time just thinking about names and anything aviation or Colorado related seemed to be taken.By Autumn of 2024, the pressure was growing to make a decision. I remember driving down Highway 36 towards Denver one day and thought “I’m overthinking this. Just keep it simple. It’s aviation.” And there it was: “Simply Aviation”. “That’s the name!” I laughed to myself how obvious it seemed after all this time.
So what can “Simply Aviation” be? What is the brand? I had called Luke right away and he said, “ Well, it’s a brand that can be for anyone, but not for everyone.” Lightning had struck twice and I was still on the same stretch of highway. I felt like I should immediately go buy Lottery Tickets. I shared the idea with the core leadership, and it resonated. We talked with our small group of instructors, it resonated with them. And there it is: Simply Aviation.
Serve. Grow. Evolve.
Simply Aviation is continuing to grow and evolve. We are adding additional locations to meet customer demand. We recently expanded our fleet offerings with Multi Engine and Cirrus Aircraft. More locations, More aircraft, More pilots, More Opportunities to learn and serve!
We are putting into practice our Core Values every day. I believe we have the most talented and diverse team of instructors and leaders in Colorado and beyond. I’m looking forward to our shared success and with your help, we can continue to write the story that is “Simply Aviation.”
